Dates are a perfect energy boosting snack. One serving of dates contains 31 grams of carbohydrates, which includes 3 grams of dietary fiber. They have the highest concentration of polyphenols among dried fruits so it helps in decreasing high sugar levels as well as keeping LDL cholesterol in check. Dates also provide good amounts of potassium, of B-complex vitamins – thiamin, riboflavin,niacin, vitamin B-6 and pantothenic acid.

The cake made from a combination of a handful of omega 3 fatty acid rich walnuts, wheat flour and a minimum of oil along with dates sure is  a healthy snack, provided one sticks to the portion size specified.
